I always keep a pocket knife in my jeans because it's so handy. Despite its low price, this knife is of good fairly quality, sharp, and has a convenient handle that can be attached to your jeans or kept in your pocket. Sometimes it's a bit hard to fold, but overall, it's a nice folding pocket knife.

Overall, this knife has been pretty good to me. Really sharp out of the box and I have been carrying it daily since I got it to try it out and haven't had a problem. I love the pocket clip on it compared to the typical metal tabs on other knives. Feels good in the hand and cuts well. The only thing I would ding it for (why the one star I took off), is there is no locking mechanism for the knife when it's out and you just fold it normal (it is stiff, but does slightly concern me). You could get cut if you're not careful or experienced carrying knives on a daily basis.

The HX OUTDOORS Folding Pocket Knife has a sturdy blade with a sharp point and feels well-made. However, I was a bit disappointed that it lacks a locking mechanism or quick release activation like my other knives. This missing feature is a letdown, especially for situations where you need to quickly deploy the knife.

Despite this, the knife's overall quality is pretty solid. For the price, I'd still recommend it, but keep in mind it's not ideal for emergency quick access.

I got this pocket knife for my husband and he likes it. It comes with a nice case. It feels well made and good quality. I knocked off one star because it is a little tough to open and close the pocket knife.

Out of the hard plastic case I was impressed with the look and feel of this knife. I like the clip because it allows for me to put it on a thicker leather belt versus just wearing on my tactical belts. It is a little difficult to open but that is a good thing so it doesn't accidentally open while on your hip or in your pocket.

My only complaint and the reason why I knocked it down one star is the fact that it is not a lock blade and does require force to close. Depending on how you hold your pocket knife the fear of pushing too hard and accidentally closing it and possibly cutting yourself is a concern.

If you are used to that kind of a knife then it won't be a problem but for those who aren't it is not a lock blade like a lot of other pocket knives and therefore you have to be careful when closing it.

I ordered this because a man can't have too many knives, right? I have quite a collection now and like to switch them out frequently. This knife is very solid. It is well built and fits comfortably in my hand. There is a finger indent and ridges built into the handle that make for a very solid and safe grip. The three-inch blade is ideal for an EDC. It is large enough to accomplish most routine task but small enough to allow the knife to be light and compact for carrying in my pocket. Speaking of which, the built in belt clip allows me to clip it into my pocket where I can find it easily and quickly. It is wicked sharp, and the stainless-steel blade should provide great edge retention and rust resistance. Ordinarily I like my EDC to have a locking mechanism to ensure the blade will not accidentally close while I am using it. This knife does not have a locking feature. The knife has a very stiff opening/closing action though which makes it unlikely that it will close accidentally. This knife is not one that you will be able to quickly deploy (due to the stiffness of the blade opening and closing and the lack of a thumb stud or opening features. It will be hard to beat especially at the price point. Overall, it is a solid EDC and I expect to carry it for years to come. I will update this review if that opinion changes.

For a fifteen-dollar knife this is a decent knife, but it lacks some critical features that I would expect even on a budget folder. The 5CR15MoV Steel is hard enough to be put through its paces, is has a high degree of rust resistance, which has a good compromise in holding its edge without being difficult to sharpen or to get an edge that is razor-sharp. Just recognize that this will need frequent sharpening as it will not hold its edge for all that long.

Straight out of the box the knife opens well but note that this knife does not have a thumb stud or flipper tab and there is *no* spring assist opening feature, so I need to use BOTH hands to get it open, as it is a stiff to open blade. The wire pocket clip is reversible and is 2-inches long and has just the right amount of tension for it to easily clip to my Carhartt pants pocket without worrying about it falling out.

In the open position this knife is just over 7-inches long, and the blade is 3-inches long and it has a touch of gimping on the base of the spine. The spine of the blade is 2.5mm thick, and when in the closed position, the knife is 4-inches long and 1.25-inches wide. The weight of this knife is comfortable without much heft at 3.1-ounces.

The affixed polymer skeletonized handles have a good thickness and are quite comfortable for plastic, and they have a good amount of texturing without being too aggressive or slick, but they certainly are not the caliber of G10 scales. When folded, the knife is on the thick side at 1-inch thick, not including the pocket clip.

The attention to detail on the tolerances for this knife is pretty decent at this price point. When you close the knife, there is barely enough room to slide in my fingernail between the handle and the spine of the blade.

Despite my praises of this knife, there are a few issues that I have with this knife, even though it is a budget folder and don't expect high-end features:

- There is no thumb stud or flipper tab for opening the blade, and I prefer the option of being able to open the blade with my thumb. It is very stiff to open and requires two hands; it will not flick open.

- The wire pocket clip is retained by only one screw instead of two or three, which are usually found on knives in this price tier. One screw means there's more torque pressures on the clip in just one spot, which could lead to stripping of the screw.

- I discovered that there wasn't any thread locker on the retaining screws when I went to reverse the pocket clip, so I then checked all the remaining retaining screws, and none had thread locker applied. Any folder, even budget models, really should come with thread locker applied to all the screws, so it would be advisable to remove all four of the screws on this knife and apply some Loctite so that they don't make their way out over time.

- The pocket clip is mounted for a tip-up carry orientation, and that cannot be changed.

- My biggest gripe is that there is no lock for the blade, not even a liner-lock. If I had realized this beforehand, I would never have ordered this knife. It is very stiff when open so at least it does not close easily, but I still consider it dangerous to not actually lock in place. Also, because of how stiff it is when open, it either requires two hands to close, or one hand with the spine pressed against something rigid, like my leg; it cannot be flicked closed.

Despite my nitpicks, it is still a decent knife at only fifteen dollars, but if you want a locking blade, then look elsewhere.

Not bad little knife

Great first knife for a teenager who enjoys camping and the outdoors.

Great little limited slip knife. Well made. I remember getting my first Boy Scout knife when I was a kid and it was a proud moment for me. When you consider inflation, this knife probably costs less than that knife did.

Very nice knife, good price, fast delivery

I liked the overall shape of this knife when I ordered it, but I didn't realize it doesn't have any sort of blade lock so it can just close on your fingers if you aren't careful. I know that some countries require that kind or dangerous nonsense, but it should be very obvious in the heading or description because that is a required feature for anyone that actually uses their knife for utility work.

Good quality camping knife. I like how easy it is to open and close. Slim design makes it easy to carry in a pants pocket or pack. Fits my hand nicely and feels secure when in use.

Be aware this is NOT a LOCKING blade and it has a very tight spring to compensate. Except for that, it is a great knife.

Light weight. Nice belt clip. Good looking. Comfortable grip profile. Reasonably sharp. It doesn't have a locking blade though, so don't try to stab or burrow through things. The blade might close on your fingers. Additionally, to prevent the previously mentioned injury, the hold spring is very stiff, which makes this knife hard to close when you want to close it.

Just be careful with it and it should serve you well.

This is a solid built pocket knife with a thicker handle which makes it easier to hold. It looks cool and is very sharp. The belt clip is a good feature.

The HX OUTDOORS Folding Pocket Knife is a very modern looking knife with strong 5Cr15MoV steel, but it has an old school design that requires 2 hands to open and close it. It also does not have a locking mechanism that prevents the blade from closing on your hand if, for example, you accidentally slip while cutting a branch and the backside of the blade hits another branch. Unlike the old school knives that had the opening fingernail slot near the tip of the blade, the slot for this knife is near the pivot. This short lever arm along with a very stiff hinge, makes this knife difficult to open. Modern knife designs can get away with this short lever arm with the quick flick of the thumb because the hinge has minimal resistance, and the blade will lock in the open position.

I used it to cut the openings on vinyl peel-and-stick tiles and to open up shipments of boxes as they arrived. The knife is painted with a pattern similar to what you see when you have Damascus steel. Sharp, easy to hold and light enough to wear around on a chain on your neck.

Nice looking knife and comes with a cool case. Build quality is OK, but opening it without a thumb stud is difficult, and the blade lock could be much stronger (to prevent you from cutting yourself). Comes semi-sharp, but not very sharp.

I like the knife. Size and weight are just what I expected and right for what I need. Fits in the hand nicely. My only dig - and the reason for knocking off a star - is that the blade cannot be locked in the open position. That creates a small risk of the blade closing on the hand in some circumstances.

The knife comes in a sturdy, if oversized, plastic box. Once you have the knife, I can't see storing it in the box. I do plan to reuse the box to store small items (e.g., spare fuses) in my car's glove box, so I guess that's a plus.
