Full disclosure, I actually won this knife on Instagram. I'm not familiar with HX Outdoors knives so I had no idea what to expect.
The case it comes in is functional and has a nice, seemingly premium feeling "chamois" cloth in it as well as a very nice Velcro patch.
The knife is smaller than I was expecting, having only looked at the pictures online but never really looking at the specs. The blade is 14C28n and is described as "blackened" but its more of a "copper dune style color and is quite appealing as well as having functional jimping along the thumb rest section along the spine.
The thumb studs are red aluminum and work as well as any thumb stud can be expected. The blade can be slow rolled or flicked via the stud and locks positively every time. The crossbar lock engages the blade without issue and passed a fairly hi-force failure test with no failures at all.
Ambidextrous tip-up pocket clip mounts feature on each side and the unused side has a filler plug in the unused spot, which I thought was a nice touch.
This knife surprised me. I have several VERY popular knives that are roughly the same size and none of them feel as solid and functional as the Cool Kid does.
I don't have any cons which is shocking. It's a well-made, solid knife that I would expect would last anyone a lifetime.
My only wish is that I had one of their knives but in a full-size variant!
