I saw an add for the Maverick fixed blade and it was convincing enough for me to make the purchase. It is my first HX Outdoors knife. I do not like the large plastic belt clip that comes with most fixed blades and maybe a smaller, "taco" style sheath would be better? But the knife itself, I am very happy with. In fact, I like it a ton more than I was expecting I would. The handle is a great size and feels great in the hand. I like the blade thickness, the shape, the grind, the size. I really really like the knife. I am really looking forward to carrying it and using it more for adventures and every day tasks.
This knife is the perfect size for EDC if you want a fixed blade. It's slightly heavier than most knives of equal size, but it's also more robust and can take quite a beating. It holds an edge well and sharpens easily. Balance is very good. The handle makes it easy to control for small works and can even make light chopping tolerable. The sheath fits really well and offers lots of mounting options. I even carry it inverted sometimes for easy grabs and it stays put until I need it. For the money, this knife is not a compromise!
