It lacks some features I desire in a multitool. I do a lot of camping and outdoor adventure filming.
This multitool has a few functions that I do not need. And some I really like. But let's stick to more generally speaking. It's sturdy. The replaceable wire cutter blades are a must if the company is around long enough to service the produce and supply replacment parts. It has a nice effective awl wich my name brand myltitool does not have. The saw seems effective. And I love the diamond sharpener on the backside of the file. My biggest complaint about this tool is the blade. And this is a big deal for many. It's partially serrated. Wich makes it quite usless for bushcraft tasks. In my opinion. The micro bevel is poorly done. And not very refined. Also.its sharp. But not very refined. And good luck fixing the metal spurs sticking off the seated area. It just seems unfinished. Only other complaint is the whistle that is not actually attached to the tool. And it's black so if you drop it. It's probably lost. Tool seems solid though. Very small ammount of wobble compared to comparably priced tools.
But let's no mistake. For a 20$ tool. It would be a great option for someone considering purchasing a more expensive tool. You can get a feel for what features and tools you like and wich ones you simply don't need. So all in all I really have to say. All things considered this is a great value.

I fully expected the HX OUTDOORS 19 in 1 multitool to be a piece of junk. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Not only was a pleasantly surprised by the material and craftsmanship of this tool, but I've used it a lot more than I thought I would. It has a nice weight and feel to it, and every tool I've tried so far has worked without issue.

Bottom line - The HX OUTDOORS multitool is of comparable quality to the name brand, but at a fraction of the price.

This tool has so many gadgets included it boggles the mind. There are different types of files, there are different types of saws, different types of screwdrivers. If you need it it's probably in this all-in-one kit. It's very lightweight and it comes in this cute little mini ballistic sort of box and also has a handy dandy carrying case. My man loves his gadgets and this makes him very very happy.

I'm trying to figure out what this tool doesn't do. It really does seem to have everything, possibly more than necessary for one tool. I was especially impressed with how sharp the knife and scissors are.

Having so many tools in one rather makes it hard to use some of them, though I'm sure there are some people who would get plenty of use out of them. It is well-made and heavy duty, certainly worth taking on a camping or fishing trip. It would definitely make a nice gift item.

I wish one of the clips on the case wasn't broken, could probably use that for something else. Nice that it comes with the pouch too since that's what I'd wanna use with this. Not really pocket friendly with that size though.
It's really big and I don't like having the window breaker on the end, might try to take it off. Plier portion doesn't have any sort of spring to open itself back up. I know my tiny keychain one has a little mechanism that opens it back up but I'm not sure if big ones normally have that or not. I hate using pliers without it though.
Plenty sharp though. Overall I'm definitely satisfied especially considering it being around 25 bucks.

I won't go into all of the 19 functions that are included because you can read the advertisement for that. What I will do is tell you the quality of this multi tool was way better than expected for the price, or any price for that matter! It even came in a hard shell case in addition to the normal carrying case. Like a lot of people I have owned many of these type tools over the years including a very well known brand that I won't mention other than to say this was at least as good if not better quality than that very well known brand. If you're looking for a multi-tool I highly recommend this option!

At about half the price of them you're getting a top quality tool that's going to last a long time.

I have been carrying a Leatherman multitool since they were invented about 30 years ago. I never leave home without that, my EDC flashlight, pocket screwdriver, and money. I actually wore out the original holster and had to replace it.
I have picked up at least dozens of multitools over the years, and rarely see any that I bother to examine for more than a couple of seconds, except for the very expensive models. I'm referring to the cheap stuff at flea markets for example....which is what I expected to show up.
This tool is beyond a pleasant surprise. The quality is superb. Most low cost multitools have excessive play in the mechanism, low quality steel/metal, lousy floppy pliers, or just inferior in every way.
There is no play in this tool, everything is tight. I expect it will take a lot of use before this tool begins to loosen up. Right now, the tools are slightly difficult to extract, but I certainly prefer that to a junk loose floppy tool. The pocket screwdriver I always carry is necessary right now to swivel the tools out, mainly because I have lousy weak fingernails.
The pliers are exceptional and feel more like a real tool than a cheap multitool.
The knives are ridiculously sharp, and I even managed to cut myself checking this thing out. My fault, not the knife. Don't know how long they will keep an edge, but I get the feeling the quality of the steel will lend itself to frequent sharpening if necessary.
I actually found a worthy successor to my Leatherman a few years ago that I carry in my workpants, because it has a saw attachment that I seem to frequently use. This multitool in this review has an excellent saw. Also, the locking mechanism for the knife and saw are solid and inspire confidence.
The weight of this tool is around 9? ounces.
I note that this tool comes with a plastic "case", which is kind of nice. The holster is exceptional and comes with the snap that I prefer (I dislike velcro closure types).
This could be my new go to multitool. I'll have to try it awhile first, but for now, I'm extremely impressed. At this price point, it's probably one of the best multitools on this and other planets.

While I can't speak for this tool's long-term durability, from my first impression, it seems very useful and built well. With its wide range of features, this thing can do a ton of stuff. Of course, it has pliers, but it has so much more. What's better is that most of it locks in place! You don't see that often with tools in this price range, and it's an important feature.
This tool is a practical investment for any DIY enthusiast or handyman. It boasts an aggressive saw, a useful scale in both standard and metric, scissors, a detachable fire starter, two types of files, and screwdriver bits. If you need more than this for a small job, it's time to reach for your toolbox. This tool is a well-thought-out and comprehensive solution, not a mere toy.
Recommend. This is a great value at this price point, for sure.

I'm not a big fan, nor user of multitools. However, I have a small Nextool Mini Sailor ?C Scissor Edition in my EDC pocket pouch, and an old, unused multitool in my truck. However, when I saw this HK OUTDOORS Multitool, I thought my daughter might appreciate it, if I deemed it gift-worthy. After my review, she indeed can have it. It's not bad at all.

The case that the tool comes in reminded me of the clamshell case that my microbrand watches come in from China. It certainly is a good protector for shipping and can be repurposed. The tool was in a plastic bag and inside its belt-mounting pouch. The pouch is not at all bad, though the belt loop was not perfectly square on the back of the pouch. Only an issue for someone as OCD as me!

The tool itself is heavy. You feel that as soon as you pick it up. This does reflect its not insubstantial construction. It certainly feels solid and each tool is fairly thick, and not at all flimsy. With the pliers deployed, it is comfortable in the hand. The glass breaker on the end of the 'hammer' can feel uncomfortable if you grip it the wrong way around when folded and the point presses against your skin.

The pliers are not the thickest I've seen, but they are made such that the grips and the points do contact each other tightly. They are fine for light duty gripping, which is the typical duty cycle for these tools. Few multitools are going to last long if you use them like your dedicated pair of pliers. The force to open and close the handles is a little variable throughout the travel. The Torx screws could be adjusted perhaps to improve that. Personally, I like them a little tight, so everything stays closed.

The pocket clip is removable. It is easy to attach to a pocket with its shape and flexibility. It feels like it is going to bend permanently when you pull on it, though I didn't manage to deform it with a large pull with my finger. I suspect it would deform if it caught on something like a door frame while in your pocket.

The glass breaker/hammer incorporates two small and differently sized hexagons, one on each side, for bolt heads. The hammer is used as if you were banging your fist on a table. Not much leverage. Personally, I find its protrusion out the side ruins the profile of the tool, for little daily benefit. If you just carry this tool in a pocket, you'll wear out your pocket lining in no time, or scratch your hand going into that pocket! I'd happily lose that feature. This multitool is best carried in its pouch. 1 Star lost ?

The knives are very sharp. Usually, multitool knives aren't sharpened well. I was very surprised at how sharp they are out of the box. Each tool has a locking mechanism, which is a very welcome feature in my book. Liner lock for the external tools, and a lever for the shorter internal tools, like the bottle opener. The file tool is good in that it not only has a double-groove file but a diamond file on the other side. Few multitools have such a file, especially at this price, most offering just a useless, single-groove file. I did see that the file was rubbing on the liner lock as it was closed, making a grinding noise.

The whistle/fire starter rod holder is plastic and pulls out of a U-shaped cutout. The fire starter is covered in plastic, which needs to be removed. Then, you need to scrape it until the black paint/coating gets worn off. Then the rod will create sparks when rubbed against some steel, maybe the file. The fact that it can be removed from the tool, makes it usable with one of the multitool tools. Fire starter rods are usually detachable for this reason and for ease of use. The whistle works, but it's not the best.

The scissors are quite substantial, for being a secondary tool. They lock via a liner lock when fully deployed and that lock also positions the spring for use, which is strong and unlikely to ever break. There's a nice attention to detail with a comfortable, folded edge for your thumb.

I wasn't expecting great things from this multitool at just $20. However, I was surprised at how good it actually is for that low sum. Leatherman tools are very expensive by comparison. The choice of tools included in the HK OUTDOORS depends on what you need in a multitool and this one may or may not fully meet your needs. My Nextool has scissors in place of pliers. That's what I need more often. You may need pliers. However, you get some very usable scissors here too.
I'm not a fan of the hammer and I have a tiny titanium whistle in my pouch already. The fire starter is more problematic than a Mini J5 BIC lighter! Of course, those can always be left off if not needed.
I do like this tool a lot and I almost thought I'd keep this for myself, but my daughter needs it more. ??

I am pretty skeptical of non-brand name tools like this, particularly multi tools. This time I was surprised.

The tool arrives in a sealed, waterproof (with a rubber gasket) plastic box. Inside the box is a nylon pouch, containing the tool. I'm not sure what the purpose behind the box is, but it's a great little waterproof box, so I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

The tool is made of high quality stainless steel, and has excellent machining and fit. It has a set of pliers which incorporates standard and needlenose jaws as well as a wire cutter.

One handle contains a glass window breaker, as well as a flint which can be removed and struck against the included file, to start a fire. The plastic end holding the window breaker also includes two hex nut recesses...however being plastic, I would not trust this with much. Probably the only part of this tool with which I am not thrilled. Normally philips bits would be included that fit into this portion of the tool as well, but not with this one.

Also in that handle is a metal and a nail file and a small pair of scissors.

In the other handle you will find a knife with both straight and serrated edges and a saw - both of which are wickedly sharp. A can opener, two flat blade screwdrivers (with hardened steel ends) and an awl complete the tool list.

Who is this for?
- Anyone who needs a pocketfull of tools

Pros:

I've always lusted after the Leatherman multitools, and I've been tempted to buy one when they are on sale at Costco. However, I never got one because they are a bit big for me to EDC and the included tools are covered by my small toolkit.

We've recently started camping with a small teardrop camper, making the HX OUTDOORS 19 In 1 Stainless Steel Multi Tool with Nylon Sheath a handy and versatile tool to keep in the camper, especially since it doesn't add much weight.

I was able to access and figure out how to use all the included tools. With the multi-tool folded (no pliers), the 4 large outer tools - saw, knife, scissors, file - are easy to open and all lock into place with a solid spring press lever (like a newer SAK locking blade). The handle is solid and provides a firm grip.

When the multi-tool is unfolded to access the pliers, the small tools in the handle - awl/punch, screwdrivers, bottle opener - are more difficult to extract. You must push on a lever on the other side of the handle - this works but it would be nice if it pushed the tools out a bit further. These tools do not lock, but that isn't as necessary.

It took me a bit to pull out the fire starter/whistle because the fire starter is covered with a plastic sheath. Once you remove the plastic, it comes off more easily.

The fit and finish are not as good as name brand competitors, but for ~$20 (at the time of this review), the HDX 19 In 1 multitool provides great function and value and is rated 5 stars based on price and performance. Looking forward to camping this summer! AC. Yes, I'm the husband.

For the uninitiated (we've all been there):

What I like: It feels sturdy, it is stainless steel, it has a glass breaker, several great survival tools, and nearly everything can lock into place when fully opened. It comes in a cool little box with padding on the inside so you feel like you're getting a quality item from the start.

What I dislike: The scissors on mine don't work. I tried to figure out how to get the spring to work but it seems they are just a dud. I'm going to work at it more later but so far no luck.
I do feel like the price may be a bit high for what you are getting. I suppose it really depends on how quality the steel really is. Advertising something as "premium" is cool but I would prefer to know exactly what grade it is so I can get a real idea of what I'm getting. When I don't see the grade, I generally assume it is the cheapest quality.

A little rough around the edges but overall a nice, value option for a multi-tool.
Man, this reminds me a lot of in looks and function of a popular name brand multi-tool, if you know what I mean.
Function wise, it serves its purpose and appears like it will preform as needed. Knives seem sharp, pliers open and close well, etc.
I like the black finish. It gives the tool more of a subdued look to it.
The plastic storage case it came it, gives the impression it's a tough durable type case, but really it's just a thin plastic box. One of the hinges was cracked so the box doesn't really close completely. Not a deal breaker, as I ordered this for the tool not the box, just something I felt was worth noting.
The only issue I have with the tool itself is the overall feel to it. It feels a little rough around the edges and not entirely smooth to open each tool from the handles. This is where the tool shows its more a value option than a high end tool.
Overall, it's still a very good option for a multi-tool at its price point. I think it will fit in well in my travel gadget bag for when I travel and I am glad I was able to get one to try out and review.

This is a nice 19 in 1 outdoorsman tool. It comes with a knife, saw, file, fire starter, scissors, pliers, glass breaker, hammer, ruler and belt clip. It does appear that the spring actuated scissors don't spring. The tool itself feels very well made with quality materials that should make this tool last a very long time.

Lots of things you can do with this thing! I have one of the normal brand and this one compares well with the uses. It doesn't have a basic phillips screw driver.

The carrying case will fit other brands also. It also comes in a plastic box which seems unnecessary. It has everything I am looking for in one of these!

Winner. Camping tool with a variety of gadgets. Includes pliers, scissors, saw, knife, file, fire starter rod, and whistle. Ideal for edc, work, and camping. Recommended.
