When I ordered this product I was not expecting it to come in a sweet looking case. The knife it super durable although could be a bit more sharp. Size as shown. The sheath looks and feels good and the flint and steel does the job. Good value for the money. I would buy a sharpener for it though.

I have GOBS of knives; SOG, Benchmade, Kershaw, Gerber, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Cobratec, and many others. So, when I saw this HX Outdoors D-305B Fixed Blade Survival Knife with Fire Starter, I had to have it. I'm not sure what my affinity for knives is but I love 'em!

The knife came in a plastic hard case that once opened you're greeted with a 9.5" knife in a hard plastic sheath that has a whistle and firestarter attached to it.

The sheath enables the knife to be held ambidextrously, meaning you can place the knife into the sheath facing either direction. The sheath has a plethora of connections to enable you to attach it to nearly anything your heart desires; strapped nylon belt loop, hard loops for sideways mounting, and small strap openings for boot or leg mounting.

The knife is a full-tang, meaning it goes down to the base of the handle. The blade has a high Hardness rating of 58 HRC, which is exceptional for the price of this knife. The rating is derived from the level of pressure that is required to dent the metal - the higher the number (58-60 HRC) the harder the steel is. The handle is made of a tough yet grippy rubber material that's well-shaped for gripping with your hand. Atop the blade towards the handle is a portion cut down to be used on the fire starter to help create a spark.

The knife feels great in the hand and is sharp out of the box, the fire starter works great, the whistle is obnoxiously loud, and the sheath enables you to mount that knife any way you'd like. I'll just mention this, no matter how sharp a knife is out of the box I still spend a good amount of time honing and sharpening it to my liking before use.

Overall, if you're looking for a great do-it-all camping knife, this is definitely one to consider putting at the top of your list. Truly, I'm not sure I know of another knife priced this low that's built this well with all the added features that this HX Outdoors D-305B has.

You must choose this one if you are looking for a good camping knife. It feels good in the hand, and the steel seems very sturdy.

Use with confidence that it will take what you can throw at it. The blade is nice and thick so no worries about bending or breaking it with normal use. Came shaving sharp out of the box and has a good feel to it. The rubberized handles are comfortable and grippy. The milled section of 90 degree spine on top strikes a ferro rod very well. The sheath is excellent with great retention and mounting options. My only concern is how the ferro rod attaches its good and tight now but I could see it wearing and loosening up over time and next thing you know your ferro rod pops out somewhere on the trail. It would be nice if the ferro rod had some secondary retention like a bit of bungee string to hold it on should the plastic clip fail. Go ahead a get this knife you'll be pleased with it.

As demonstrated in the short video this is a full tang knife over-molded with what appears to be a TPE handle material. The reported D2 blade stock is nice and thick at .190' (4.75mm) and narrows to a nice thin drop point due to the aggressive swedge. There's an included ferro rod and a designated striker area on the spine of the blade. An especially nice feature is the secure retention and reversible nature of the plastic sheath. The fit a finish is above the expected level at this price point but watch for price fluctuations coupons and discounts make this a very attractive offering. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

When you take this knife out of the plastic hard case you'll find it wrapped up in a cellophane-like plastic wrap and the blade is well oiled inside. It also comes quite sharp out of the box. The spine of the knife is quite thick, making it fairly heavy, though not at all unwieldy. The handle is slightly on the thin side, yet it still feels comfortable in hand and the rubber on the upper and lower parts give you a really good grip.

The sheath comes with many attachment options, allowing you the ability to wear this knife in just about any way you could think of. You can also remove many of the pieces of it so you don't have to have any extra parts flapping around that you're not using/don't want to use. The handle snaps very securely into the top of the sheath, allowing you to feel confident that your blade will stay put no matter which way you choose to wear it.

It's nice to have the ferrous rod, also commonly referred to as a ferro rod, included with this knife, which is attached to a survival whistle that is really quite loud and fairly high pitched. Both are great items to have if you happen to find yourself lost in the woods. Nobody wants that to happen and probably most people who spend a lot of time in the woods even think that it won't happen to them but, as the Boy Scouts moto tell us, it's always best to "be prepared", something this knife will help you with.

This is a great deal at the current price of $22. I don't know how well the edge will hold up, I would suspect that on a knife this inexpensive it wouldn't keep its edge for very long, but hopefully it can stand up to a bit of use before losing it. My hope is that it's good enough that you can keep bringing the edge up to where it's good and sharp again. It should be since it came sharp, it might be a good idea to carry a small sharpener of some type with you if you're going out on trips into the woods though, just in case. Considering what you get for the price, I call this a great deal. This will be a birthday gift for my oldest grandson. Definitely recommended.

I am one that definitely appreciates a good quality knife. I own several types of knives from some well known brands, so I feel qualified to recommend this knife. That said, I was taken a bit by surprise upon unboxing this as the level of quality was entirely unexpected. The manufacturer really seemed to pay attention to detail and created a very high quality product that I plan on bringing with us the next time that my son and I go camping. I have no doubt that this knife is durable and will hold up for quite some time. All it needed was a quick touch-up on the blade to make it incredibly sharp. Once sharpened, it went cleanly through a piece of copy paper with minimal force and with an almost surgical precision. I didn't even need to use a stone, but a KA-BAR 9926 Handheld Sharpener did the job in under ten strokes!

Let's move onto those things that I liked most as well as those things I disliked about this product.

? Blade could have been slightly longer.
? Would have liked the knife to be a bit sharper out of the box.
? Price before 50% coupon is a bit on the pricey side.

I should note that the price with the 50% coupon is FANTASTIC, so I hope it stays that way!

Additionally, many knives come from the factory on the duller-side, mostly to ensure safety, but it sharpens VERY nicely and I have zero complaints once sharpened!

Ultimately, you're getting A LOT of knife for your investment! I'm on the pickier side, so if I'm happy with this knife, most folks would also be. They seemed to think of most everything and I'm really amazed with the attention to detail! The current price with the 50% coupon simply can't be beat! I will be using this knife myself and have absolutely no reservations in recommending it!

Very happy with this survival knife. Knife is sturdy and well made. Blade is sharp and ready to use. Very easy to hold and wield. The scabbard is well made and holds the knife and ferro rod securely. The ferro rod doubles as an emergency whistle which is an awesome touch. Knife fits well on my belt and is easy to deploy when needed. Came in a black cargo box for added protection. I would recommend if you are looking for a ferro rod knife combo.

As great as it looks and seems in the product description, it is three times better in person. On arrival, this water resistant dive box with a tiny chunk of plastic fin missing on the back right hinge, and a totally askew sticker on the front, greeted me. The plastic box is actually a nice touch even in the face of the damage and vaguely detracting label placement, but the two clasps are an issue, they are quite difficult to unclasp.
On opening this box, inside, nestled in two thick layers of black foam, is every bit the knife one would expect from big name companies. The sheath can be fastened with any compatible thickness of cordage to any bag or on person item, but it also has integrated hardened plastic belt loops, and nylon fabric belt loops fastened with snaps for smaller and larger belts.
When unsheathed, it is a good size, not too small but not too big to be cumbersome for utilitarian purposes either, plenty sharp and sturdy spine thickness. The blade was covered by thin plastic to keep the blades oil intact through shipping.
There is an unpainted section on the spine meant specifically for use with the included ferrocerium rod/whistle combo, just be aware it is a tight fit in its plastic slot and will require decent force to remove.
The best thing about this knife though is the price, it is 22USD for this excellent bushcraft knife I would likely be shelling out triple (or more) for from a different better known company, for the same knife.

This is a great knife to take camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting. It has a sharp stainless steel blade that can be used to cut things like sticks and rope. It comes very nicely packaged in a durable hard plastic case, plus a plastic sheath to carry it around in. It also comes with a fire starter and a whistle. This will make a great gift for any outdoor enthusiast.

This is way cooler than I expected. The sheath is adjustable in a dozen different ways. You can completely remove the nylon part. The plastic part has a removable piece if you have a phillips head screwdriver. The adjustable nature of the sheath is just the beginning to how awesome this knife is.

The sheath also holds the knife really well. It isn't going to just fall out. It has a piece on both sides of the opening so you can push your thumb against it to get the blade out one handed.

The blade can go in the sheath both ways!!!! Literally as I'm writing this I keep discovering useful features.

The nylon part can change from a traditional belt sheath to a drop leg sheath.

My ONLY concern is that snaps can eventually get loose.

The blade itself comes sharp. I won't have to sharpen it for a while.

The fire starter has a complete covering. I don't scrape off the covering until I'm ready to use it. Humidity can start to degrade the fire starter over time once the protective layer is removed.

The fire starter whistle is also shaped in a way that makes it really easy to hold even though it is small. There is a nice dip in the back where your thumb fits comfortably.

The whistle even works great.

The case is thick and tough. That is going to come in very handy for a lot of things.

There is so much about this knife that is great you will just have to get one and see for yourself. Or get it as a present for someone else because it will be very well received.

This HX Outdoors Bushcraft Knife with Firestarter, D2 Steel Fixed Blade Survival/Camping Knife is pretty much everything you could need in this type of product. The (58HRC) hard D2 Steel blade manufacture material makes it difficult to bend or cause deformity to the blade. The black rubber handle is ergonomically designed for comfort and grip. The sheath is constructed of plastic and measures 10.24' and can be attached to a belt, backpack or other such item. There is a slot/holder on the front of the sheath specially designed to hold the included ferro rod. It was a little difficult for me to get the rod disengaged from this holder but my husband managed it quite easily. Of course you need something to strike the ferro rod and this is located near the base on the backside of the blade that is specifically designed for this purpose. And there you have it, a firestarter kit that doesn't add any unnecessary weight or bulk to your load. This kit could prove invaluable, especially if you were to become stranded and needed to start a fire, this kit would be at your fingertips, literally To top it off the ferro rod is also a whistle. The blade is coated with black Titanium and measures 4.33' with the handle measuring 4.8'. I can't believe this product is offered at such a low price point and I dont believe you will be disappointed if you decide to purchase.

This knife is well made and features a great blade that is very thick. The included fire starting rod scrapes well on the back of the blade and produces nice healthy sparks. I do not like the sheath however. When worn on my belt it is impossible for me to draw it unless I hold the bottom part of the sheath in my hand while pulling on the handle with the other hand. It is a great bushcrafting knife except for the sheath. It comes in a tightly sealed plastic box that has removable foam panels and is ideal for packing survival gear in. I tried taking the nylon holster off and using only the plastic sheath on my belt but the knife handle stuck out awkwardly. I plan on getting another sheath, because this one has proved to be very difficult to use. All in all, a great knife for a great price, it is just really hard to draw from the sheath.

This feels cheap compared to the Gerber knives that i have. Both in the blade, handle and sheath.

A nice knife for the price. The top point is D2 steel. A knife of D2 steel for 25USD - amazing. Its handle is made of medium soft rubber, it gives a good grip, however the question is how long it will last. The pouch is made of plastic and seems to be good. It provides a sufficient retention for the knife. In addition there is a fire starter with whistle on it. That is the good point. The fire starter is ��logically�� mounted upside down and its retention is pathetic. It will take a short walk before the fire starter is gone. Another minor discrepancy - if you expect delivery in a fancy plastic box as shown on the website, let yourself be surprised. Sometimes it comes in the plastic box (my friend), sometimes not (myself). In summary, it is a very good knife for the price tag. However, if you expect Gerber Strongarm level, forget it.

Great knife. The Firestarter doesn't hold well in the sheath though. Not an issue unless your running trails. I ended up just trying it to the sheath to give myself some piece of mind.

My boys love them definitely would suggest to others.

I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It comes in a very nice case and the knife is exceptional! VERY sharp and will be great for around the farm.

Knife itself is good. Well balanced, sturdy, feels good in the hand.

The holster is good, but the nylon attachment for the belt looks cheap and kills the asthetic. The vertical belt holder is useless for me because my edc gun makes it impossible to position for dominant arm use.

I tried an aftermarket clip on that worked, but it rode too high on the waist using the screwholes on the back, also the plastic screw holes got stripped fairly quickly and wont hold the provided screws anymore.
